Darshna Hall Plantation
Built in 1753, Darshana Hall is one of the oldest and largest plantations in the Piedmont. A great place to experience "living history." Private tours are available, plus the house is a special place to celebrate special occasions.
Fort Dobbs
Situated in the Piedmont region of North Carolina near the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Fort Dobbs State Historic Site provides a window into the tumultuous period of history known as the French and Indian War (1754-1763) or Seven Years War. As the only state historic site associated with the period, it represents North Carolina's link with a global war for empire that crossed five continents, lasted nearly a decade and sowed the seeds for independence. Many living history events throughout the year - re enactments, marketplaces, and educational.

Pilot Mountain/Mount Airy (Mayberry)
The town of Pilot Mountain is best recognized as Mayberry from the enduring tv classic, The Andy Griffith Show. The Pilot Mountain has a combination of geological, botanical, ornithological, and scenic attributes which make it of exceptional interest. It became part of the North Carolina State Park system in 1968, and was dedicated as a National Natural Landmark in 1976. Each year, neighboring Mount Airy (Andy's hometown) hosts Mayberry Days. The four-day festival includes a golf tournament, concerts. the Mayberry Days Parade, and "Colonel Tim’s Talent Time". Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy riding down the breathtaking Blue Ridge Parkway, hiking at Pilot Mountain State Park, or canoeing on the Yadkin River. Bluegrass and traditional music lovers can take in a jam session or live radio show every Saturday morning in Downtown Mount Airy. History buffs can delve in to the area's colorful past at the Mount Airy Museum of Regional History and by visiting the county's myriad of historic sites. Taste fine wines and tour the grounds of Old North State Winery located on Main Street in Mount Airy, North Carolina.
Vance House and Civil War Museum
Built approx. 1832-1860, this Greek Revival two-story frome house has partial log construction. It is one of the oldest structures in Statesville. In 1865 it served as headquarters for Governor Zebulon Vance during his exile from the state capitol during the last months of the Civil War. (Statesville was NC's temporary capitol while Raleigh was occupied by Union troops and the Governor was here). The house is now operated as a museum by the United Daughters of the Confederacy and contains many "firsts" to Statesville along with pieces used by Gov. Vance and his family.
